Pepe
Pepe has been fostered through PAL since he was a puppy. Recently it seems that he had injured his leg . After getting medical attention it was determined that he has a collapsed knee as well as his Femur rotated. According to an Orthopedic Surgeon it could possibly be a deformity; he is scheduled for more x-rays soon which will tell us the full extent of the problem. It is undetermined whether or not he is in pain; either way we will do whatever we can to correct the problem. After more examination through the Surgeon, we will find out if surgery is an option. At this time his vet bills could run around $2500 and $3000. If you would like to make a donation in honor of Pepe or any of our other special needs friends, please scroll to the information below. Thank you so much for your help and support. Update!!!
Pepe (better known as Marmaduke, a nickname that stuck) is
doing great now, at 7 wks post surgery (as of 11/2.) These new pictures were
taken only a few days after the orthopedic surgery & you can see his leg was
already much straighter even then! He has grown impatient with his continued
rest (Dr's orders) - hey, he feels great & he is ready to play & run! One more
week & he will be allowed normal activity! His leg is nice & straight & getting
stronger all the time. He is such a sweet boy & it is wonderful to see him
walking normally & know that he is no longer in pain!
Update 02/22 His favorite thing now is an AirKong football (squeaky tennis ball type); he loves to play fetch & keep away & can usually find it no matter what it goes under (like a desk, etc.) Yes, we play in my little house!
